For this webquest, your task is to either create a power point or a movie about Thomas Jefferson and how he contributed to Westward Expansion.
- Put yourself in the shoes of Thomas Jefferson during the 1800's.
- You will pretend that you are Thomas Jefferson who is creating the power point or movie.
- The power point or movie should explain your plans on how you are planning to acquire more land and why you would like to own more land.
Ex: "I want to acquire the Louisiana Purchase because I want to gain access to..."
*Keep in mind that the power point or movie is supposedly made by Thomas Jefferson although they didn't have that type of technology during the 1800's.
Focus Questions:
- Why do you wish to acquire more land?
- How are you planning to acquire the lands you want without going through another war?
- Are there any agreements you made with other countries about sharing or exchanging the lands?
**You are answering questions and explaining details as if you are Thomas Jefferson
***To complete this webquest...you will have to research on how Thomas Jefferson was able to acquire the Luoisiana Purchase.
- Explain what led to the purchase.
- Explain what happens during the purchase. (include any battles going on...wars...etc.)
- Explain what happened after the purchase.
****Don't just include the Louisiana Purchase in your power point or movie beacuase it wasn't the only land Thomas Jefferson had acquired. Luoisiana Purchase was a given to you. Make sure to include other lands he had acquired and how he had acquired them.
